The short version
- The game sends nothing about how you play unless you say yes. You are asked once, on first launch, and the answer starts as no.
- If you say yes, it sends what you did in the game (which screens, how far you got, what you bought with in-game cash), tied to a random ID. Never your name, your Steam account or anything you type.
- You can turn it off, or ask for everything already sent to be deleted, from Settings → Privacy in the game.
- This website sets no cookies.
Who is responsible
Deep In Debt is made by Gacella Games, the solo developer Ergun. Gacella Games decides what is collected and why. Questions and requests go to ergun [at] deepindebtgame.com.
In the game
Off until you allow it
On first launch the game asks whether it may collect anonymous play data. Until you press Allow, nothing about your play leaves your computer. Development and test builds never send anything, whatever you choose.
What is sent if you allow it
- Session: when the game starts and ends, which screen you were on, your game language, which edition you play (Steam or web), and how many runs you have finished.
- Screens: each screen you open and how long into the session.
- Runs: at the end of each round and each run, the in-game cash, ore, strikes, merges and how the run ended.
- Firsts: the first time you merge, cash out, draft a card, pay a bill or have your claim closed.
- In-game purchases: what you bought with in-game cash (an upgrade, a card, a bill payment) and the in-game price. The game has no real-money purchases.
- Settings: which setting you changed and a rough value such as “off” or “full”.
- Wishlist button: that you pressed it.
The analytics service, Unity Analytics, also records on its own: a random ID created for this installation, your IP address (which Unity uses to work out an approximate country), basic device information such as operating system, device model and screen, and a short heartbeat about once a minute while the game runs.
The game never sends your name, your Steam account or Steam ID, your email address, your friends list or any text you type.
Why
To find where players get stuck, where they quit and which parts of the economy nobody uses, so the game can be fixed. The data is not used for advertising, not sold and not combined with data from anywhere else. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a); explicit consent under Türkiye's KVKK).
Who processes it
Unity Technologies runs the analytics service on our behalf. Its servers may be outside your country, including in the United States. By default Unity keeps this data for up to 13 months. Totals that no longer identify anyone, such as “how many players reached the second bill”, may be kept longer.
Turning it off and deleting it
In the game, open Settings → Privacy.
- Anonymous usage data: switch it off and nothing more is sent from that moment.
- Delete my data: press Request and the game asks Unity to delete everything already sent from this installation. It also turns collection off. If you are offline, the request waits and is sent the next time the game connects.
Switching collection off does not delete what was already sent; use Delete my data for that. If you have already uninstalled the game, write to us and we will help.
Your saves
Your progress and settings are saved on your own computer and are not uploaded by the game.
Steam
If you play on Steam, Valve handles your Steam account under the Steam Privacy Policy. We see only totals from Steam, such as wishlist and playtime numbers, never data about you as a person.
On this website
- No cookies. The site stores nothing on your device.
- Hosting: the site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the page and protect it from abuse.
- Visit counts: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without anything that identifies you.
- Steam button: when you press a button that leads to Steam, we count which button it was, the campaign tags in the link you arrived from (for example
utm_source) and the country Cloudflare reports for the request. Your IP address and any ID are not stored. - Email: if you write to us, your message sits in our mailbox, hosted by Google Workspace, for as long as the conversation needs it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, withdraw your consent at any time, and object to how it is used. Write to ergun [at] deepindebtgame.com and you will get an answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live; in Türkiye that is the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
Children
Deep In Debt is not made for children under 13. If you think a child has turned on data collection, press Delete my data in the game or write to us.
Changes
The date at the top changes whenever this page does. If the game ever starts collecting something new, it will ask you again before sending it.
